hmmmm....

What shall I blog today? How about a few more October Afternoon projects that I haven't gotten around to sharing yet. :)

They sent me the Modern Homemaker line awhile back and I had fun reflecting on being a stay-at-home mom and what it means to me. I never thought in a million years I would be a SAHM. Truly. I was always taught to be a career woman, and I actually went to 6 years of college and received 2 degrees. Becoming a mom changed my whole perspective, and now I can't imagine it any other way! So this little mini album is dedicated to how much it means to me to be here for my girls and also my daily routine of being a homemaker!

I had this old chipboard book in my stash with tabs (I think it was made by Scenic Route?), so I used the chipboard iron, rolling pin and ball of yarn on the tabs.
So, here is the first page. I did write a lot in this book and think it was important to share those feelings with my girls. I will upload ALL of the inside pages HERE in my gallery at 2 Peas if you'd like to see the rest!
Here is a fun layout with a bit of misting - I masked off the heart and sprayed the background before working on the rest of the page. Quilting gives me a happy heart! Like my mom always says, "a busy heart is a happy heart."
I think I was channeling my inner Jen Jockisch on this one! I love how she adds so many strips of paper and colors!

When my grandfather passed away, my grandmother had all of his jeans made into a quilt. And I loved the idea so much, I made one for our home with our own jeans. It's so heavy, warm and comfy.

And because I couldn't stop using hearts the day I made all of these...LOL...a fun little tag-shaped Valentine's card! I stitched a little heart banner, added lots of polkies....
Last, but not least...this card kind of makes me smile! :) I wish I felt like her everyday, full of energy, dancing while baking. LOL But isn't she cute?

I layered some of the papers and stickers, then added my own printed sentiment at the bottom. Sorry to overload you today with creations! But I hope you enjoyed them. Have a beautiful, happy day!

Oh, Danielle, these are just stunning. Thank you for sharing all of your projects - they really are so inspirational. What a wonderful idea, to make a quilt from your fathers clothes. I have a pile of my baby daughter's dresses on the bed (the ones she's got too big for), wondering whether to cut them up to make a start on a quilt for her, but feeling guilty, that I could send them to charity and someone else could actually use them as dresses. They've been there for about a week now, just waiting for me to make the decision!

LOve all of your projects Dani but that mini about being a SAHM REALLY speaks to me...my journey has been similar...I have my degree in Early Childhood Education and I never thought I would stay home and only apply it to my own children but I am SOOO happy and blessed that this is the path that I am on. What I once thought would be a year at home has turned into 11 years at home and I couldn't be happier:) So yeah...your mini really spoke to me:)
I am positive T and K will cherish having your feelings on this subject when they are older. Love the big checkered bow too:)

I too was a stay at home mom. We made many, many sacrifices so I could stay at home to raise our children. We did not have the money for many extras. I cut my hair and my children's. We did not have a cable, air conditioning, garage door opener, new cars (and the cars we did have-air conditioning was broke and the electric windows were also broke), I did Christmas shopping all year long only buying clearance items. My kids are grown and would you belive now they appreciate all the sacrifices made to be raised my mom. I have encouraged them to save
$ now so they don't have to do without as much as we did.
<3 your design eye. Keep on creating.

Sorry to leave this comment here...I couldn't find an email for you anywhere.

I appreciate you letting me know about the tissue paper roses. I had seen them originally on House of Smith's. When I saw them several months ago, there was not a link to another blog so I just assumed it was her idea and so in my post I linked to her site. But when I looked today I just saw that she had a link to you here. I would be happy to add your link to my post as well. I am sorry I did not realize they originated with you. I really try hard to make sure to give credit where it is due. I really don't like when people do that to my ideas either! Do you have a link that I can add that will take my readers directly to your tutorial for making them. I searched for one, but couldn't find them. Thanks!
